April 2025 Newsletter
In parts of the Northern Hemisphere, an April shower is rain during the month of April. One of the major causes of the often heavy downpours is the position of the jet stream. In early spring, the jet stream starts to move northwards, allowing large depressions to bring strong winds and rain in from the Atlantic. In one day the weather can change from springtime sunshine to winter sleet and snow.
But we are hardy and tough and let nothing get in the way of a TR run. And there are plenty of these coming up.
Museum of Berkshire Aviation – 5 April
First run of the year. There is still time to book your place.
Drive It Day – 24 to 27 April
The annual get your classic out thing. It’s the 20th anniversary this year and you have the once in a lifetime chance to take part. And do it over 4 days as well. Such fun!
Or alternatively drive down to Hastings on the day and meet up with us there. The only details we have appear at page 53 of the last TR Action and on our event website.

The Printemps Tour – 11 May
Organised by the Guildford Car Club on 11th of May. It’s a fun run around Surrey to and from the Fox Inn. Did it last year and good times were had by all.

Leonardslee Gardens and Sunday Lunch – 18 May
Organised by Barry and Jenny this amazing garden contains flowers, sculptures, woodland walks and enough cafes to drown in tea and cake.

Club Night
The next club night will be on 1st of April. Hopefully we will get feedback on the recent TR Register AMM. Tim will be doing a presentation of what the WFTR committee does and also explaining why we have called an Extraordinary General Meeting for 06 May (Agenda per your mailchimp notification of newsletter post).
In addition Geoff will be bringing along some old aircraft radios that members may want. If not they will be donated to the museum on the 5th April
Committee Meetings
Each month the committee discusses all matters WFTR. So you don’t feel left out we have always made the minutes of these momentous meetings and the AGM available to read as follows:

TR Register Issues
Andy McLaren kindly attended the Register AGM on our behalf as well as the short notice Group Leaders meeting ahead of the AGM. Key issues from this latter meeting are:
Annual Subs Increase – you will be aware that it was intended to raise the annual subscriptions to £72, but we understand that this has been held in abeyance for the present.
The Register Forum – there were concerns over full non member access to this facility or by making it closed to members. Since the meeting the responsibility for the running of the Forum has been passed to a non management group accountable team of moderators.
There has been no 2025 Group Leader meeting and none was planned. There was pushback against this omission and it is hoped that such meetings will be run in the future.
There have been concerns and difficulties over the implementation of the new Register website (called Sheep). Apparently to overcome this, training on the new site will be programmed down to GL level.
Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs
The FBHVC are conducting their 5 yearly survey of classic vehicle owners. This is an essential part of our hobby as they are able to lobby Government with pertinent results that supports our interests. Please complete the survey so they receive as much information as possible from the classic car fraternity. Click here to complete.
