Goodbye to Ireland

Museum of Berkshire Aviation

The sun was shining as the WFTR aviation contingent gathered in Camberley for a short run to the Museum of Berkshire Aviation in Woodley. The first proper run of 2025!

Flying along the Berkshire roads were: Barry and Jenny, Graham and Nick, Mike and Lynda, Tim and Steve, Mike and Richard, Darren, Laurence and Suzanne, John, Geoff and Peter and John and Michael.

Thanks to Barry and Geoff for their photographic contributions.

The excitement of a car park
The team assemble
And while we were heading off to Nine Mile Ride the ladies were out for a walk.
Spot the difference
Arrival at Woodley…
…in our private car park
The magnificent Fairey Gannet
The beautifully restored Handley Page Herald.
The crew entrance
Feels a lot larger on the inside.
“Keep calm it saves energy”!
Packing them in. In the centre is a Fairey Jet Gyrodyne.
Tim and Mike pretending they haven’t seen me
Lawrence with his private tour guide
Looking back. Yellow aircraft on the right is a Miles Magister built at Woodley
The production line
Everywhere you turned were stories.
Even spitfires were built locally.
Hurricanes
Everywhere you look were models
In front of the Miles Martinet is a half scale Blériot monoplane – the first aircraft to land in the Woodley area.
Time to leave
