October Newsletter

We have missed a month insofar as publication of this newsletter is concerned and also our author who has kept us amused for a long time has now stood down. Therefore this newsletter will be a short update to keep you in the loop as we run into the Autumn period.

Also, please seek to come along to the October club night at the Foresters Arms Bagshot on 07 Oct from 7:30p.m. Hope to see you there.

Committee Posts

You are all aware of the calls for new committee members and a GL for 2026 to be elected at our AGM at Club Night on 02 Dec. We are pleased to inform you that currently we have the following members prepared to stand for election at the AGM:

Group Leader –
James Duckworth

Membership Secretary – David Hankin

Treasurer – Darren White

So if we could get a volunteer to come forward to be Event Secretary we would have a full house. Please all members consider if you could help by filling this post for the good and benefit of our Group.

What have we been doing since our last issue?

August/Sept seemed to be busy months with various members participating in a number of events that included.

The Phyliss Tuckwell car show.

Another chance to see the fantastic private collection of Robert and Tanya Lewis’s exceptional cars petrol pumps and memorabilia. All for a very good cause.

Bringing Bluebird back to life talk on club night.

Steve Moss organised the entertainment for our August Club Night and we were treated to a fascinating presentation by Bill Smith, ably assisted by his daughter, on how he located, recovered and restored the iconic Bluebird.,

Summer BBQ and horse show.

Once again hosted by Suzanne and Laurence. It was a well attended event as always. They even managed the weather as well.

Mapledurham and Silchester run.

A full day of activities superbly organised by Cliff & Coral. As you can see, we totally demolished the afternoon tea.

Fish and Chip run

Terry & Helen planned a lovely run from the Hogs Back Services down to Littlehampton to enjoy fish and chips by the river Arun. (There was even a sausage for Sammy)

Alton Car Show

140+ plus cars were displayed up and down the High Street. WFTR was well represented both there and in the Rock Choir which entertained the crowds and our Graham was even interviewed on the radio.

Not The WFTR Christmas Party

Taking part in January 2026 the all parts of the Not the Christmas Party are slowly coming together. Like a spider Michelle is pulling all the strands of her web to ensure an excellent day out. It will be a little different but that sort of describes most of us anyway.

However….

We need more people to attend! Without WFTR members the spider’s web will fall apart and we may not be able to hold the event. So please register your interest right here:

We have 21 names already. The minimum required is 36. If all the usual suspects put their name down we will easily reach the target.

Bromley Pageant of Motoring 2026

The South Downs TR Group has reached out to other South East area Groups to coordinate a single entry into the Bromley Pageant of Motoring for 2026. We are included and have been asked if we are interested in participating. This would mean we would all be entered as a single entity. For more detail of this year’s show see: Bromley Pageant 2025. If you are interested then please let Barry know at Club Night this week.
