Our March Club Night at the Foresters Bagshot, will be on Tuesday 3rd March from 7:30pm, although if you intend to eat beforehand we suggest you arrive around 6:30 to ensure you are ready for the start of the meeting.

Club Night Presentations

Our February meeting was very entertaining with James telling us about the little railway, of which most of us new nothing, despite it being on our patch.

James is asking for some further volunteers to give a brief presentation / talk / chat on any subject that interest you at the monthly meeting. If it interests you, the chances are that it will interest at least some of the audience!

James has a talk on the Basingstoke Canal lined up plus Nick will give a talk about petrol, and Laurence’s friend wants to do a quiz with a difference. (The winner of this will take ownership of the WFTR Crown Jewels Award) that James and Trisha won several years ago and now needs a new home.

Raffle

Jeff Lovegrove ran the raffle as promised, and as my ticket was first out of the hat, not only did I get the pick of the prizes but also won the honour of organising the raffle for March.

TR Register Group Leaders’ Meeting – GL Report

I attended the 2026 Group Leaders’ Meeting held last Sunday 22nd February at Gaydon.

Of the 54 local groups, 31 were represented in person with 12 joining via Teams, giving an overall representation of 80% of all groups.

The 6-hour meeting covered a wide range of TR related matters which I will condense into 10-15 minutes or so at this next club night.

Subjects included:

Current Membership numbers, trends and the impact of the subscription increase (the answer here might surprise you).

A number of these matters – particularly TS2 – will make their way to the membership in due course so it is a subject worth discussing.

Recent Happenings

Unsurprisingly there were no events during February, which is probably just as well as those taking part would have got exceedingly wet, to say nothing of the flooded roads hiding all the potholes. Spring is just around the corner however, so hopefully we will be out and about again very soon.

The 2026 list of fixtures continues to expand – now up to January 2027 (thanks Steve) – but still has plenty of room, so please feel free to propose an event and don’t forget to have a look and sign up to those you are interested in.

19th April – Lunch, Bugattis and Lancias – A rare opportunity to view this unique private collection.

26th April – Drive It Day gathering at Hollycombe Steam, Liphook – Starting from Hogs Back Services, Terry has offered to plan a route to the event which is being organised by the Goodwood TR Group. This event has now opened for you to buy your entry tickets – £11 per car.

22- 25th May (plus travel time) – Tour to the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales – Staying at The Fat Lamb pub with breakfast and evening meals included, you will explore some of the best roads and scenery in the UK.

19th July – Thames Valley Tour – A 100 mile tour around the Thames Valley. Starting with breakfast at Blackbush Airport Cafe, there will be an organised coffee stop and incudes lunch at a 200 year old pub. Those who have already registered their interest will have received an email from Helen with entry and payment details.
