February Newsletter
A warm welcome to your first Newsletter of 2026.
Our February Club Night at the Foresters, Bagshot will be on Tuesday 3rd February from 7:30pm, although if you intend to eat beforehand we suggest you arrive around 6:30 to ensure you are ready for the start of the meeting.
Club Night Presentation
James Duckworth will give an illustrated talk on the Surrey borders and Camberley Railway (SBCR)
The SBCR was possibly the most ambitious miniature railway ever built. The 10 1/4 inch gauge (approx. 1/6th scale) ran between Farnborough Green (roughly where British Car Auctions used to be located) and Yorktown in Camberley, just two miles away.
The railway opened in July 1938 and closed for ever in November 1939. At the heart of the story were a brilliant engineer and a wealthy railway enthusiast.
Unfortunately nothing remains of the railway bar photos and some cine film.
Future Club Night Presentations
The committee are keen to continue with this regular club night entertainment slot so if you have an interesting hobby or interest you would like to share, (it doesn’t have to be about cars or transport), or perhaps run a quiz, or can think of anything at all that would amuse us, then please talk to one of the committee members..
Raffle
Geoff Lovegrove is going to take the reigns of the raffle on 3rd February with a selection of Honda memorabilia as prizes.
TR Register Group Leaders’ Meeting, Gaydon, 22nd February 2026
James is unable to attend this meeting, however if anyone else would like to attend (10:00 – 16:00), please let any member of the committee know. Travel expenses can be claimed and lunch is provided.
Recent Happenings
There are just two events to report on since the last Newsletter:
New Years Day at the Phoenix near Hartley Wintney.

Dave Hankin was the organiser for this event and in previous years it has been very popular with our group, however fewer members attended this year. The event itself was huge and took up a sizeable chunk of the A30 in both directions with a wide variety of cars both classic and modern.
Not the 2025 Christmas Lunch
On 10th January we returned for the third time to the beautiful Meade Hall at the Crown and Cushion near Blackwater to celebrate yet another year of fun with WFTR.
Barry had produced a video which he ran in the background, featuring all the events throughout 2025 and is was surprising to note that most took place on sunny days! (Make of that what you will). The meal was excellent, particularly the puddings which were huge! Many thanks to Graham and Michelle for organising this for us.

19th April – Lunch, Bugattis and Lancias – A rare opportunity to view this unique private collection.
26th April – Drive It Day gathering at Hollycombe Steam, Liphook – Starting from Hogs Back Services, Terry has offered to plan a route to the event which is being organised by the Goodwood TR Group.
22- 25th May (plus travel time) – Tour to the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales – Staying at The Fat Lamb pub with breakfast and evening meals included, you will explore some of the best roads and scenery in the UK.
19th July – Thames Valley Tour – A 100 mile tour around the Thames Valley. Starting with breakfast at Blackbush Airport Cafe, there will be an organised coffee stop and incudes lunch at a 200 year old pub.
Around our Patch
