Our June Club Night at the Foresters Arms Bagshot, will be on Tuesday 2nd June from 7:30pm, although if you intend to eat beforehand we suggest you arrive around 6:30 to ensure you are ready for the start of the meeting. If you would like to take advantage of the ‘Steak and Wine for Two’ Special at just £33 then please phone 01276 472038 the day before to place your order.
Geoff Lovegrove won first prize in May and kindly offered to run the raffle for a second time this year before he remembered he would be away! Darren has kindly stepped into his shoes so the raffle will go ahead as usual.
GL Report
- The Wisley pop-up event is proceeding. We have limited details so far from the Register but have put a placeholder on the WFTR website.
- 20 of us are booked for the submarine visit in Gosport on Thursday 4th June followed by lunch.
- I am still looking for volunteers to make short presentations at club nights on any subject that might be of interest to the assembled members. Andy McClaren has suggested that we invite people to speak for 15-20 minutes on ‘the vehicles I have owned, loved and hated’. I think this will work but again we need volunteers.
- Please make yourself known to Barry if you would like to be added to the WFTR WhatsApp group. This is the preferred method of communication between meetings.
Recent Happenings
Weekend Tour to the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales – Darren Writes
On the 22nd May a group from WFTR, consisting of several TR’s, a Stag and M2 travelled up to North Yorkshire for a weekend of superb driving. We stayed at the Fat Lamb Country Inn where we were treated to a warm welcome and excellent food. On Saturday, as well as a lovely route through the Dales, we visited the Wensleydale cheese factory and saw a couple of steam trains running on the Settle to Carlise railway. Then on Sunday we did a route over the Pennines with great views across to the Lake District and driving on some really wonderful moorland roads. Later in the afternoon we visited a spectacular waterfall called High Force before another moorland drive back to the Fat Lamb. We all travelled back safely on Bank Holiday Monday in the blistering heat.
Highlights from James
- Probably the first WFTR event at which there were more TR7/TR8’s than any other model even though there were only 2 of us.
- Full marks to Robin’s Stag that covered close to 900 miles without a problem despite no preparation, being kept outside and not started for many months.
- We were lucky enough to see two steam hauled excursions on the Settle to Carlisle line.
- I think we will return to The Fat Lamb, perhaps alternating year by year with Llanerchindda, as there are many routes available through stunning scenery.

4th June – Visit to the Royal Navy Submarine Museum plus Lunch on board the Lightship – Starting with a run through the Surrey & Hampshire countryside this is a unique opportunity to visit this fascinating museum. Hurry to secure your place at the much reduced ticket price of £27pp. All those who registered should have recieved an email from Steve to place your food order.
19th July – Thames Valley Tour – A 100 mile tour around the Thames Valley. Starting with breakfast at Blackbush Airport Cafe, there will be an organised coffee stop and the cost includes lunch at a 200 year old pub. Those who have already registered their interest will have received an email from Helen with entry and payment details.
2nd August – Phyllis Tuckwell Motor Show – Held by Robert & Tanya Lewis in Churt, this annual event is held in aid of The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. Entry is £25 per car inc. all passengers to the show and the Private Collection of over 60 cars and thousand of items of memorabillia.
8th August – Collectively Camberley Car Show – Free to enter, this event showcases over 250 vehicles across Camberley Town Centre which is closed to normal traffic for the day.
The long weekend trip to Llanerchindda Farm in Wales in June 2027 has just 8 placesstill available, so you are advised to resister soon if you would like to go. See website for full details.

From 6th June it will take place from 2.00 – 4.30pm at Country Market, Borden, with space for up to 1,000 vehicles of all types and updated facilities. £2 entry on the gate to show your car.
