Isle of Man 2022

We met Mike and Lynda at Chieveley Services and headed off on cross country route to meet up with Roger and Sue at Batsford Arboretum. Sadly, before we arrived at our lunch stop in Ludlow Mike was already experiencing fuel problems, which would eventually bring a halt to his and Lynda’s holiday plans.
The remaining two cars carried on to our overnight stop on the Wirral ready to catch the morning ferry from Liverpool the following day. The crossing was calm and just as we reached Douglas the sun came out and that set the theme for the entire holiday, we were so lucky as the temperatures were perfect for touring, unlike most of the UK which was experiencing extreme heat.
The Isle of Man was everything we expected having spoken to those who completed the trip last year. The hotel was great and we found some lovely pubs, cafes, restaurants and the odd ice cream parlour to keep us fed, and everyone was extremely friendly.
There were many ‘stand-out’ moments, like the views from the top of Snaefell, the visit to The Sound overlooking the Calf of Man and the seals basking on the rocks, being invited onto the balcony at the Creg Ny Baa pub with its uninterrupted views of the world-famous mountain section of the TT course and the electric tram ride along the coast to Laxey to name but a few.
We saw so much in the eight days we spent on the Island but there is so much still to see and we think a return visit in the future is probably on the cards.
