Newsletter July 22

Introduction

I am putting this newsletter out slightly early as I will be away from 30 Jun for a few days and will be unable to get it out ahead of club night unless published now.

Club Night

Club night will be at The Foresters Arms, 173 London Road, Bagshot, GU19 5DH next Tuesday 05 Jul from 7:30 p.m. where we hope you will join us if possible. Last month even more members were taking advantage of the pub’s Steak and a Bottle of wine for two at £25 all in, which is a good deal, but you need to phone 24 hours before to secure. If you would like to try this out then I ask that you book to arrive and eat from 6:30p.m. so that tables can be cleared and folk can circulate at the meeting from 7:30p.m. Bring your TR’s as well now we have the long evenings.

Notable Events

On the first weekend we had three members showing their cars at the Farnham car show which is always a good day out – especially so to see the amazing Koenigsegg super car being shown. A good size group of WFTR members had an excellent run from Sainsburys in Guildford through the Surrey Hills in good weather to Laurence and Suzanne’s place. They provided us with a lovely BBQ, entertainment and a quiz in the beautiful setting of their home. This has become an annual must do event and we are all truly grateful to Laurence and Suzanne for their generosity. Regrettably we had to postpone the Bodiam Castle run due to inclement weather. It appears that East Sussex where the Castle is was about the only area it was raining in the South East!. The following weekend a smaller contingent had a weekend away touring the New Forest, and Boscombe/Bournemouth beaches followed by a trip to Tankfest at Bovington. A good weekend out with lots of “heavy metal” on the Sunday.

Planned Events

02 July – Hale Carnival which has been a popular event and for which we have 9 registrations in 7 cars. See https://wftr.co.uk/event/hale-carnival-2-2/ for more detail.

06 – 15 July – Isle of Man tour. There are 6 participating in 3 cars.

17 July – Thames Valley tour. This is a popular event fronted by Terry Schraider for which you have to pay a fee to enter. Presently we have 16 registered in 9 cars and I hope all will have paid separately. See https://wftr.co.uk/event/thames-valley-tour-2-2/ for more detail and entry forms.

6 & 7 Aug – Valley and Villages tour. A firm annual favourite which again members have to enter and pay for in addition to WFTR registration. There are currently 22 registered in 12 cars to take part. Registration extended to 15 July.

31 Jul – Postponed Bodiam Castle run. There are currently 17 registered in 9 cars to take part. Registration extended to 15 July. See https://wftr.co.uk/event/bodiam-castle/ to register.

14 Aug– Cranleigh Lions Classic Car Show & Autojumble. There are 7 registrations and 4 cars attending. We put on this show in response to enthusiasm shown by members for car shows, but are surprised over low registrations. Too late to register now as the opportunity to do so with the Lions closed last week.

17 Aug – Buckler’s Hard and Beaulieu River Boat Trip. We have 22 registered in 12 cars to attend this event which looks to be another great day out. If you would like to join us then register at: https://wftr.co.uk/event/bucklers-hard-and-beaulieu-river-boat-trip/

19 – 22 Aug – Triumph and MG International weekend at Stafford show ground. To register apply thoutgh the TR Register website at https://www.tr-register.co.uk/event/2022/08/2666/LVG-at-Triumph-MG-Weekend-2022

Summary

We hope that there is enough to excite all WFTR Group members event preferences from those that are on offer. There is certainly a full range of options for you to use your TR’s. We are always open to ideas and suggestions so give us any feedback that could help us improve. Happy TR’ing.
