Hellfire Caves 2025

Back through Popular demand.
The Hellfire Caves are a network of man-made chalk and flint caverns which extend 0.25 miles underground. They are situated above the village of West Wycombe, at the southern edge of the Chiltern Hills near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, Southeast England.
We will meet in our usual meeting place in Hartley Wintney at around 09:15 for a 9:30 departure. The run of approximately 35 miles will be along A and B roads. On arrival we will ascend a short steep climb to a hill top providing fantastic views over High Wycombe and surrounding areas. While on the hill we will visit the Dashwood family Mausoleum and St Lawrence Church with a Golden Ball.
At around 12:00 we will descend the hill (either walking or driving) to explore the Hellfire caves.
We will then drive accross the road to the National Trust West Wycombe Park with country house tour and extensive gardens and lake providing opportunities for scenic walks.
There is also a cafe (Walled Garden Cafe) near the site of the caves for lunch although you may wish to push the boat out and bring a packed lunch for an enjoyable picnic in the park.
Current cave ticket prices (at Nov 2024) are £6.65 or £5.60 for seniors and National Trust members.
