Bovington Tank Museum
Organised by Mike Hellis, he was joined by Dave, Tim, Nick, Jeff and Lesley. This is his report:
We departed Hook Railway station at 0725 a.m. bound for the tank museum in Bovington to visit the sell out display called Tankfest. All bravely showed up with hoods down, but we did stop part way there to put hoods up on suspicion of rain which actually never materialised. Oh well! Arrived at the event around 0915 a.m. and joined short queue to park cars then a longer queue to get into the event. All 6 of us had a thoroughly enjoyable day where we viewed a superb display of running tanks and support vehicles spanning the last 100 years plus a look around the excellent museum. We got rained on with one very heavy shower, but this did not dampen enthusiasm (see photo). Departed Bovington around 610 p.m. for a nice run home where the heavens did open (significantly for a while) around Salisbury. This was undoubtedly a great day out, superb 85 mile each way run and a fantastic world class display by the Tank Museum at Bovington.
