Club Night

The September WFTR club night will be at The Foresters Arms, 173 London Road, Bagshot, GU19 5DH, on 05 September from 7:30 p.m. Terry Schraider will be doing a presentation on Regularity Rallying based on his vast experience in this sport.

Feedback on tight parking to the rear of The Foresters on club night question in my last newsletter was: 1. Accept the situation as is – 3 responses, 2. Change club nights away from Tuesdays -2 responses, and 3. Move location of club nights – 6 responses. The committee do not believe the response numbers are representative and have decided to leave this question until the AGM to address.

Event Report

From 11 – 13 Aug the TR Register International was held at Shepton Mallett show ground. This was declared a very successful event and was supported by a number of WFTR members. Yet again Laurence and Suzanne were showing cars they had painstakingly prepared for the event. This year it was two TR7’s and they won the standard and non standard TR7 award. Laurence can be seen below proudly receiving the award and the award itself.

On 13 August Barry and Jenny organised a lovely day out at the Cranleigh Classic car show which is an old favourite show of ours. Weather was fine and the show was very big with literally hundreds of classics and modern classics. Entertainment, food, stalls and good company, what more could one ask for? It also gave us the opportunity to put up and take shade under our newish gazebo, although practice in gazebo assembly is required. See pics below:

On 20 August Tim and Avis organised a day out to the Kempton Steam museum where one of the two historic huge engines was run. We met at their house for tea and biscuits before undertaking an interesting run to the museum at Feltham part of which was along the Thames river bank which was superb. The museum is well worth a visit and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. See enclosed pics and video of the engine running – see below:

WFTR Website

Graham and Tim have been carrying out work to refresh and update our website. Part of this is to integrate our new payment system as presented by Tim at a previous club night and part as a continual improvement process. You will note that there are additional non WFTR organised events for you to consider there as well. Any feedback you have would be welcome.

Summary

Some leaves in the trees are beginning to turn brown and we are now approaching the autumn phase of the year (begins Sep 23 at 02:50 a.m.). Still time to comfortably to use our TR’s so get your names down for the Autumn Run as set out above.

In addition if you are inspired by the Kempton Steam Museum video they are running a classic car and bike show on 17 Sep. Exhibitors can self-book their vehicles using a booking form on the museum website located here: https://kemptonsteam.merlintickets.co.uk/product/EVENT00066
