Drive it Day 2018

22 Apr 2018

Parham House dates back to 1577 and is a quintessential Elizabethan English family house. The house and estate were bought by the Hon. Clive Pearson in 1922 and following many years of renovations was opened to the public in 1948. It has been occupied by the family ever since with Lady Emma Barnard and her family the current occupants, as it is now owned by a Charitable Trust. The estate consists of a total of almost 900 acres combining working agricultural and forestry land including parkland designated as a site of Special Scientific Interest. In addition there is a walled garden and pleasure ground surrounding the house, which will be included in your admission price. The tulips should be in full bloom.

Weather permitting marshals of Goodwood Group will direct you from the entrance on the A283 and you will follow an enchanting drive through the parkland until the house comes in sight. You will then be directed to park in your designated group site. You will be given GWTR ticket and once parked the ticket should be presented at the ticket kiosk along the entrance fee of £7.50 per person and you will receive a ticket to the gardens and amenities. If you wish to tour the house itself, ticket can be purchased for an extra £2 per person.

There will be an additional attraction with the presence of TS2 owned by TR Register. There is also the possibility of the TR2 speed record breaker MVC 575 so lovingly restored by Glen Hewett and seen earlier this year at the Royal Automobile Club. The Friends of Sussex Hospice will again be present selling raffle tickets foe worthwhile prizes whilst raiding money for their charity.

We will meet at the Hogs Back Services GU10 1EU on the A31 at 8.45am for a prompt 9am departure.
