At Goodwood Motor Circuit
Goodwood, Chichester, West Sussex PO18 0PH
Tired of the Winter blues and need some TR action?
As an opener to our TR season Windsor Forest TRs are supporting this very popular and worthwhile event which takes place at Goodwood on Saturday, 8th February starting at 9.00 a.m. Here you can see some pretty impressive rally cars performing in earnest on the circuit.
What's more, the event is free to spectators. You're welcome to wander anywhere (permissible) to watch the various stages. On top of the pits is always a favourite place.
It is possible we will be joined by members from South Downs Group who have previous experience of this event.
The long range weather forecast doesn't look too bad for 8th (touch wood!) although previous years have been cold, so we propose to leave the circuit at lunchtime to visit a local hostelry, probably the Anglesey Arms at Halnaker (on the A285), which is a short journey. George Jackson, GL, SDG tells me they do wholesome soup/sandwiches etc with good beer and an open fire.
We can then either return to the circuit to enjoy the afternoon stages or head for home. We're able to come and go on the circuit as we please, the last stage is run at about 7pm if you're hardy enough to last the course!
Goodwood Motor Circuit is just northeast of Chichester in West Sussex (PO18 0PH).
On arrival go through the main gates, take the left turn to the car park. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH THE VEHICLE TUNNEL as there is no space for parking on the 'inside' of the circuit.
For those who would like to drive down together we will meet at the Hogs Back Service Station on the A31 (GU10 1EU) at 8.00 a.m. It's an early start but please try to be on time. If the weather's not too good or your TR is off the road come in your daily driver - all welcome!
