Fire Engine Visit
in Social

01 January 2017
Courtesy of new member Alan Greenwood
From 11.30am
Windsor Forest member, Alan Greenwood, is an avid collector and restorer of Fire Engines. He has about 8 machines at his premises just outside Chobham, Surrey. They date from the 1920's to recent times and are all in immaculate condition and in full working order.
Alan's background is as a haulage contractor and as a consequence he has the benefit of a very large, secure compound adjacent to his home where he keeps his Fire Engines in modern, purpose built warehousing. He has offered to open up his collection to Windsor Forest TRs and invited Clubs on New Year's Day.
There is sufficient space in his compound for approximately 40 cars to park comfortably and with additional overspill space should that be required. Alan will also be arranging for a burger van to attend and for hot drinks to be available. The event will start from 11.30am to allow people a late start from the night before, which should allow for a pleasant morning drive for those travelling a distance, assuming the weather is fine.
Having owned a TR4A as a teenager, Alan has recently become the proud owner of a fully restored, genuine RHD TR5, so I'm sure he would be pleased if those attending could, if possible, visit in their TRs - it could make for a really interesting and 'different' New Year's Day.
